There’s good reason to be excited about the 34th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards.
If you are a fan of gospel music and know anything about this show, than you know just how amazing the night will be. Even if you aren’t, keep reading.
There are at least three reasons why you may want to pay attention to this year’s Stellars.
1.The Stellars Are Back On BET
The Stellars will be taped live at the Las Vegas Orleans Arena on Friday, March 29. Even if you’re not in the area, you can still get front row tickets.
For the first time in almost 15 years, the Stellars will air on BET. You can have front row seats from the comfort of your home during its t.v. premiere on Good Friday, April 19 at 8 p.m. ET/7p.m CT and 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT.
2. Aretha Franklin Tribute
We’ve seen a few good Aretha Franklin tributes, but let’s face it. Nobody brings powerhouse vocals like a gospel music singer.
At this year’s Stellars, the all-star tribute performance will be led by singers Kelly Price, Regina Belle, and Erica Campbell. The Aretha Franklin ICON Award will also be presented.
Don Jackson, Stellar Awards Executive Producer and Founder, shared how the late singer had deep gospel music roots.
“It was 35 years ago when Aretha performed ‘Precious Lord’ on my very first Gospel Music television special ‘Living the Dream,’” he said in a statement. “In recognition of Aretha’s roots in Gospel Music and her continuing love for the genre, I am delighted that our executive committee agreed to present her with our ICON Award posthumously and continue to present the award forever in her name as the Aretha Franklin ICON Award.”
3. Performances
Let’s face it, some of the most exciting parts of any award show are the performances. In true Stellar Awards show fashion, the performers slated to hit the stage do not disappoint.
Brian Courtney Wilson, Charles Jenkins, Jekalyn Carr, Jonathan McReynolds, Kelontae Gavin, Koryn Hawthorne, Maranda Curtis, and Todd Dulaney are gearing up to perform at the event hosted by Kirk Franklin.
Whether you have a ticket to attend the Orleans Arena live show or need to watch the t.v. broadcast from home– you do not want to miss this year’s Stellars.
