Franklin Graham, the Christian evangelist, is calling for volunteers to help serve those in need in the Florida Panhandle after the area was recently ravished by Hurricane Matthew.
Graham released an email to his subscribers this week where he explained why the people around the Florida Panhandle needed aid.
“As I write this, Samaritan’s Purse disaster relief units are on the way to the Florida Panhandle and other hard-hit areas that were ripped apart and flooded by Hurricane Michael’s destructive winds and rain. This was one of the most powerful storms to hit the United States in the past 50 years,” he wrote. “Thousands of people are facing unimaginable devastation, and they need our help.”
The son of the late Christian evangelist Billy Graham detailed exactly what his team would do when traveling to the areas that were destroyed by the deadly hurricane last week.
“In the days and weeks to come, our teams will be helping these hurting homeowners by clearing storm debris, tarping roofs, and mudding out inundated houses. Most importantly, they will be sharing the hope and comfort of the Gospel with those who feel desperate and helpless in the wake of this catastrophic storm,” he wrote. “Even as we rush help to those who are suffering in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, we are still working hard to assist homeowners struggling to recover from Hurricane Florence in the Carolinas and Hurricane Harvey in Texas.”
Graham’s Samaritan’s Purse organization focuses on humanitarian efforts by providing aid to those in physical need after they have suffered from wildfires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Graham is calling for more volunteers to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael.
