According to TMZ, “Paramedics responded to Luke’s home in Sherman Oaks around 9:40 AM. We know the call came into the fire department for someone suffering a stroke.” While Perry’s rep has not confirmed that he had a stroke, the rep did confirm that Perry is currently under observation at the hospital.
As fans and other celebrities wait for updates on the 52-year-old star who is best known for his role as Dylan McKay in Beverly Hills 90210, they took to Twitter to offer their prayers and support.
Dean Cain, who rose to fame as Clark Kent in the series Lois and Clark and starred in the film God is Not Dead, tweeted, “Praying hard for Luke Perry today. May he have a full and fast recovery.”
Perry’s friend and fellow actor Kristy Swanson who played Buffy in the film Buffy the Vampire Slayer let Perry know that she was praying for him and believed that God will get him through.
“I just heard the frightening news about my dear old friend Luke Perry,” Swanson tweeted. “Luke honey I am praying so hard for you right now, I love you so much, and by God’s Grace you will get through this. Please pray for Luke..”
Hayley Law, who co-stars with Perry in Riverdale where she plays Valerie Brown, also said a prayer for the veteran actor’s speedy recovery.
“I’m praying for you. Asking god to be with you and help you get through this…to help you recover stronger.”
Even TV critic Kristen Baldwin unabashedly stated that she was praying for Perry. “I am literally praying right now for #LukePerry…and I don’t care who knows it,” stated Baldwin.
Before news of Perry’s stroke, Fox announced on Wednesday that it was planning a 90210 revival to debut in the summer. The revival would include original cast members Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Jason Priestly, Brian Austin Green, Tori Spelling and Gabrielle Carteris. Perry had not agreed to join the revival.
