The Holy Spirit has been dealing with me in a very big way recently as I study Hebrews 12:1-3. I have been studying these 3 verses for a while now and each study literally makes me sob in a good way. It’s been thought provoking, challenging, convicting and reassuring.

Verse 1 says we are surrounded by great cloud of witnesses. I realized that to get a deeper understanding of the text, I needed to go back to study chapter 11 to see who these people are and all I can say is whoaooooo. Yea it’s been an amazing journey with God studying this. The word of God is deep and I would like to share this journey with you.

I have decided to start a series on this. Everyday I intend to shed light in my own little way into the lives of these great men and women shown to us in Hebrews 11 and how it relates to our walk with God. Basically I will be sharing what God has been showing me.

I’m trusting God that you will grasp what I have been grasping with this study and that it will challenge you as much as it did me.

Hebrews 11 starts off by telling us what faith is. I love how the Amplified bible version puts it.

Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

Faith isn’t something we see with our physical eyes. It’s what we see with the eyes of our spirit. The interesting thing about faith is that every follower of Jesus Christ has faith.

For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. Romans 12:3

It takes faith to believe in something you can’t see physically. It takes faith to believe in Jesus Christ. That He died for us and that He is always there with us. So yes we have faith. The problem is that often times we don’t use our faith in other areas of our lives. We are ok with believing in Jesus Christ that He died for us. However when it comes to acting on faith with regards to healing, provision and direction we are quick to switch to our natural mind as we feel it’s quicker sometimes.

The heroes and heroines we will be looking at in this series were exposed to life like we are. They walked and lived on this planet earth. They were humans with flesh and blood running through their veins. They had emotions and wills. So it will be interesting to see how they did it and to also see if we are pulling our weight at all.

Looking forward to having you on this ride with me.

See you tomorrow as we look at a man called Abel.

Blessings!
