“I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know—God knows. And I know that this man—whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows—was caught up to paradise and heard inexpressible things, things that no one is permitted to tell. I will boast about a man like that, but I will not boast about myself, except about my weaknesses.” – 2 Corinthians 12:2-5
When God raises individuals who we deem to be greater than ourselves, it’s easy for jealousy to rise within us. Paul exemplifies humility in this text because he celebrates the favor and grace that God had given someone else. He instead boasts about the difficulties he was challenged with. In a way, he understood that as God was blessing someone else, the Lord was also blessing himself, not just by experiencing glory, but in His weaknesses. This week, celebrate someone else and yourself because you understand that God is working in the both of you.
