Savannah Chrisley believes her generation is taking the wrong approach to love and should focus on submitting their romantic pursuits to God.

The 20-year-old former Miss Tennessee Teen USA who rose to fame with her family on the USA Network reality television series Chrisley Knows Best is featured in the Matt Stell music video “Prayed For You.” The country music video hits close to home for Savannah who stars in the video with her boyfriend, 24-year-old Anaheim Ducks player Nic Kerdiles.

Stell’s song is about praying for a significant other before ever meeting them which Savannah says she can relate to. While the beauty queen turned television personality has been vocal about her previous issues in relationships, she is now encouraging young people to consult with God about matters of the heart.

“I feel like we live in a generation to where we are looking for love in all the wrong ways…when in reality…if we just pray for God to bless us with the person that HE knows we need…then we will receive that person,” says her July 9 Instagram post. “May not be in our time frame…but when God knows we’re ready. #prayedforyou.”

Savannah admits that she has often taken the wrong approach to relationships and wasn’t always ready to date the professional hockey player boyfriend that she prayed for.

“Nic ( @nickerdiles ) is the one I prayed for but I just wasn’t ready for in the past. God put a few relationships in my life to teach me and to help me grow but they were never meant to be forever,” she wrote on Instagram. “They were lessons learned. Those relationships helped me to appreciate what I have now because before those experiences I could have never appreciated Nic.”

Savannah’s Instagram message echoes the Matt Stell music video that she is stars in. Her protective father, 49-year-old real estate mogul Todd Chrisley, did not always jump at the idea of his daughter starring in a music video but he changed his tune with “Prayed For You.”

“We get a lot of requests for Savannah to be in music videos,” Todd told PEOPLE. “And normally it’s not something I would want her to do, but Matt Stell’s song is a very uplifting song. It gives me hope for these young girls and guys today.”
