A year after announcing that her husband’s infidelities were leading them to divorce, author and Proverbs 31 Ministries leader Lysa TerKeurst is glorifying God for their recent renewal of marital vows.

In 2017, Lysa shocked many of her supporters when she revealed that her husband Art was unfaithful in their marriage, which was on the verge of ending.

“My husband, life partner and father of my children, Art TerKeurst, has been repeatedly unfaithful to me with a woman he met online, bringing an end to our marriage of almost 25 years,” Lysa wrote on her website. “..Sadly, though I have repeatedly forgiven and accepted him back, he has continued to abuse substances, be unfaithful, and refused to be truthful to me and our family.”

Last week, the president of Proverbs 31 Ministries revealed that the couple decided to renew their vows. While she once doubted that her marriage would survive the trials that it has endured, Lysa said God had other plans.

“Never doubt we serve a God who still does miracles. In the middle of the work He did from the devastation in my marriage nothing looked like I hoped and everything felt impossible,” she wrote in a recent Instagram post. “But all the while when I saw nothing, God was doing something. And in His way and His timing, new life came.”

The Christian speaker encouraged people to remember that miracles are possible with God.

“No matter how impossible that miracle you are praying for seems, please trust that only God knows the full story. He is working,” she said. “He is hearing and shifting and intervening and convicting and stirring and doing what only He can do.”

Lysa shared her prayer with social media supporters after her recent vow renewal.

“Oh God, may we be found fiercely faithful,” she wrote on Instagram. “We will go to those on the brutal battlefield of heartbreak and speak Truth. Show redemption. And call forth life from dead bones in the name of Jesus.”
