Tyler Perry is providing some much needed good news. According to TMZ, the film executive recently visited the Atlanta based restaurant Houston and left a $500 tip for each of the 42 out-of-work servers, totaling $21,000.

The Atlanta-based writer and director, who is worth around $600 million dollars, is purportedly a fan of the chain and wanted to bless the workers who lost their jobs due to COVID-19. The virus has caused record job loss across the country. Last month, the government recorded that 701,000 jobs were lost, which is higher than any other month ever recorded.

While federal relief is scheduled to reach the newly unemployed workers, delays are expected. That is why Perry’s gift to the restaurant employees is very timely and much needed.

The media mogul has a history of generosity. He donated $1 million to Bishop T.D. Jakes youth center. In  2017 he gave$250,000 of a $1 million donation to Joel Osten’s Lakewood Church to aid in the Hurricane Harvey recovery. And after Hurricane Dorian devastated the Bahamas, he sent his personal plane, stocked with supplies to the island.

Perry’s $21,000 isn’t the first time he’s provide releif during the COVID-19 pandemic. To help keep morale up, he initated the #HesGotTheWholeWorldChallenge where he challenged well-known celebrities to perform their rendition of the beloved spiritual.
