As she celebrates her mother’s birthday, “Empire” actress Grace Byers is revealing how much her mother’s prayers have impacted her.

“I am 100% sure that were it not for my mother’s fervent covering, I would not be here today. Before I was even a thought in her mind, my mother prayed for me,” she revealed on Instagram. “When I was in her womb, when I was a child, when I was a teenager, when I entered adulthood, when I got married – my mother prayed for me.”

Those prayers were not a thing of the past for Byers and her mother. Even today, the actress said her mother continues to cover her in prayer.

“I remember the late nights, early mornings and every prayer in between growing up. And even now, she prays for us every day of every week, of every month,” she revealed. “This is the woman we get to call Mommy. As Proverbs 31 states, today and always, we arise and call her blessed.”

Grace is married to her “Empire” co-star Trai Byers who previously told the LA Focus newspaper how God brought them together.

“I meet Grace again and I’m in love but I can’t do anything because she’s dating somebody and I’m still trying to find my feet with God. It was October when I decided to fully stop everything I was doing and focus on my work,” he recalled in 2016. “It might have been two weeks later I woke up in the middle of the night and I heard God say to me, ‘Grace is your wife’.”

Trai asked God for confirmation in the form of Grace hearing the same word and bringing it to him. Eventually, she did.

“In October, God woke me up in the middle of the night and told me to end things in my relationship,” Grace said, getting the same revelation around the same time. “There was something about his spirit, and I’ll never forget that moment when I heard his spirit, it was just like ‘oh wow.’”
