Kirk Franklin Remixes Hit Worship Song ‘Oceans’ For New Movie

The song “Oceans” has made a mark in churches and worship experiences for over five years. Now gospel music legend Kirk Franklin is putting his twist on the new classic for the upcoming movie “Breakthrough.”

The movie centers around the true story of a teenage boy who died and miraculously came back to life because of the power of prayer.

Hollywood producer and preacher DeVon Franklin is executive producing the project and tapped Kirk for the soundtrack.

“When you get a call from DeVon Franklin you just make it happen. He called me when I was in London and said, ‘I need for you to do this song for me,’” Kirk revealed in a clip posted to the “Breakthrough” movie social media account. “And it’s like, ‘tell me where when and what.’And it’s that simple.”

DeVon wanted Kirk to recreate the song “Oceans” which was released by Hillsong United in 2013. The musician was honored to put his twist on the tracks which is a moving tune.

“I’m honored to be somebody that he has on speed dial. When you think of the song ‘Oceans,’ you see the type of phenomenon it was in culture and not only faith culture but even pop culture,” he said. “It moved a compass on so many different levels. And to be able to have that as a centerpiece of the movie .. I know is going to speak so broadly and it’s going to be attractive to people because they will remember the music.”

In a caption for the video clip, the movie’s social media account says Kirk’s version of the song will touch people in a new way.

“Oceans touches the heart of everyone who hears (and sings) it,” the caption said. “Get ready to be touched in a whole new way when you hear Oceans in #BreakthroughMovie. Watch @kirkfranklin talk about how he specially arranged the song for the film.”
