Kierra Sheard admits that she hasn’t always made her relationship with God a priority, but she is working to do so and helping other people along the way.

The 31-year-old gospel music powerhouse is also the daughter of renowned singer Karen Clark Sheard and Bishop J. Drew Sheard. The Bishop leads the Greater Emmanuel Institutional Church of God In Christ in Detroit, Michigan.

The singer who often goes by the nickname of Kiki, may be doing a form of preaching by sharing some inspiration from God along with scripture on her YouTube series Katching Kierra. In the latest episode released this week, the singer who also has a plus sized clothing line called Eleven60 questioned if people treated God the way that they did not want to be treated in relationships.

Instead of speaking at her audience, Kierra spoke about some things that God has been convicting her about.

“What calls didn’t I return as it pertains to my conversations with God?What did I put down that he told me to pick up,” she questioned. “It’s ok to be in your feelings obviously and I think because God knows it all and because he’s omniscient and omnipresent and all knowing sometimes we take advantage of that. I get emotional when I talk about it but we’re just like ‘oh God is good’ and we treat Him like a genie in a bottle or we just don’t give Him that time.”

The singer and entrepreneur who is also mentoring women through her digital SistHER program admitted that God has been dealing with her when it comes to dating Him.

“So the Lord was dealing with me like are you good with your dating with me? How do you treat this covenant,” she said. “He convicted me and dealt with me. The things that I don’t like in my natural relationships I find that I do it in my spiritual relationships.”

Throughout her video, Kierra arms viewers with scriptures like John 15:7-18 while explaining the importance of learning to work through relationships. She explained that while sanctification is a process, it is important that people do not give up on trying to obtain a closer relationship with God.

“Sanctification is a process and the word of God says he is completing a work in you. If I can do it honey you surely can do it,” she said. “I have done some stuff that has really made me feel like I should just off myself because I cannot get this together. His grace goes deeper than an ocean and His mercy is absolutely amazing.”
