Justin Bieber is using scripture to encourage people not to let negative thoughts overpower the love that Jesus Christ has for them.

The 25-year-old singer hopped on Instagram to encourage people not to stop fighting against anxiety.

“Don’t stop fighting the battle has already won.. fight for what you love and who you love don’t let fear and anxiety win,” he wrote before sharing a principle found in 2 Timothy 1:7. “God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love and of a sound mind!”

Bieber opened up about the specific battles that he has been fighting to believe the truth about who God says he is.

“I haven’t believed the truth about myself. I haven’t believed I am loved,” he admitted. “I haven’t believed I am forgiven. It’s a hard thing for me to wrap my head around.”

The singer admitted to fighting through feelings of shame and sadness when thinking about people who have betrayed him. He spoke about the hope that he has in Jesus Christ.

“Jesus has given me freedom and the pursuit of getting to know His character is never ending. God’s character never changes, He is the same yesterday, now and forever,” Bieber said before sharing promises found in 2 Corinthians 12:9. ” He is always good!. I won’t be afraid to be vulnerable before him.. His power is made strong in our weakness.”

The mainstream singer who often shares his faith went on to elaborate on the scripture, Matthew 11:28.

“God isn’t afraid of your pain and your brokenness he actually welcomes it. Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest! these are words from Jesus,” he said. “There is hope and it’s in him.”

Bieber closed out his message by reflecting on the message found in John 3:16.

“He loves and cares for you! For God so loved the world that He gave his only son so that whoever believes Him won’t die but have eternal life,” he wrote. “You are that whoever and he accepts you as you are!! He loves and forgives you and welcomes you into His arms every time you mess up. He is a perfect and loving God who adores you!”
