For years, people have been asking singer Ciara to share the prayer that landed her Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. Now, she is finally detailing her conversation with God.

In a recent interview that was live streamed on her YouTube channel to promote her new album, “Beauty Marks” the R&B singer is opening up about the prayers that led her to Wilson who she married in 2016.

“I prayed for a God-fearing man,” she said. “I prayed for discernment. I prayed for wisdom, to really learn from the wisdom that I’ve gained from the experience that I’m going through.”

For the singer, it was also important to find a man that loved children since she has a son from a previous relationship.

“I prayed for a man that loved kids, because, obviously me having my son, if you’re gonna love me you’ve got to love him,” she said. “I prayed for a man that was worldly as well. Because I love to explore so someone that was gonna edify my world, that was important to me. I was ready to level up!”

Since they began dating in 2015, Ciara and her husband have been transparent about keeping faith at the center of their union. In a previous interview with Essence magazine, Ciara explained how she was specific in her prayer for a God fearing man before meeting her husband.

“I remember telling my friend the kind of guy I wanted: a God-fearing man with a very fun spirit who loves kids and would really, truly care for me,” she recalled. “I was very specific because I do believe you can have it all.”

Earlier this month comedians B. Simone and Pretty Vee asked the singer to share her prayer.

Ciara responded with a prayer that glorified God.

“We’re ready for the prayer.. please Cici, please,” B. Simone pleaded with the singer. “What’s the prayer for Russel?”

While she did not take that opportunity to get specific about a Russell Wilson prayer, Ciara did glorify God in prayer.

“Heavenly father we are gathered here today to lift you up and magnify your name in this moment,” she began praying. “And allowing us ..to celebrate our mamas.”
