“One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord  all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.” -Psalm 27:4

There is nothing wrong or sinful in asking God for particular blessings when you pray.  However, can you say like the Psalmist, that the thing you desire most is not things, but God? Do you recognize the beauty of your Savior and desire it above all the beauty of the world?

If your desire is not quite there, that is ok. Simply ask God to reveal Himself to you so that your desires can become fixed more on Him than anything else.
