Travis Greene Says This Is Why We Worship
Travis Greene is reminding us why we worship.
The chart-topping gospel musician whose songs have inspired many to worship, posted a couple of questions about worship on Instagram that he also felt led to answer.
“Why do we worship? What is our motivation,” he questioned. “I believe we worship because once upon a time we had no fellowship with God because of our sin but out of pure love, God sent his son to die a shameful death so that we can have a relationship with Him. We worship out of gratitude, we worship out of the knowledge that we’re loved, and we worship because we are free!”
Greene reminded people about God being the motivation for worship.
“He is our motivation and He alone is the reason we choose to worship,” he said.
Aside from being a renowned gospel music singer with several popular songs, Green is the pastor of Forward City Church in his hometown of Columbia, South Carolina. In a previous College Times interview, he shed some light on his approach in creating gospel music.
“I would say definitely just bring a fresh wind, a fresh wave to it, bring excitement back, bring joy back because growing up, it was something that I just aspired to be a part of,” he revealed. “ I think this message and this genre, Christian gospel, should be fun.”
Greene’s mother was a choir director which opened up the doors for his love for the gospel music.
“My mother was a choir director my entire life, so it’s just what she did. She was very influential and passionate in teaching people music,” he revealed. “Gospel music, in particular, was like oxygen in our home. It was just a part of life; it was always around us, it was unavoidable, so that’s what sparked my passion for it at an early age.”
