T.D. Jakes Readies New Reality Gospel Singing Competition
Bishop T.D. Jakes has a new show that is putting a twist on the gospel.
The senior pastor of The Potter’s House who has also produced a number of films has a new reality show called “The Gospel.” The program will focus on six gospel artists who are trying to break into the industry.
Jake’s will give one of those artists that opportunity. The series will chronicle 10 days with the six artists over a period of eight episodes.
The artists are competing for a management contract with Jakes’ Dexterity Sounds and Marquis Boone Music Group. A number of well known musical voices in and around the gospel music industry will act as mentors for the contestants including Micah Stampley, Jekalyn Carr, Q Parker and Devyne Stephens.
The contestants were discovered on social media along with Jakes’ Bishop’s Village digital platform. The series will be featured on Bishop’s Village on March 10.
Each week, people who are subscribed to Jakes’ digital platform will vote for the winners of a weekly challenge. At the end of the competition, Jakes and Boone will pick their winner.
At the conclusion of the Christian music competition, the winner will have the opportunity to perform at the International Pastors & Leadership Conference in Tampa Bay, Florida on April 25.
The competition is more than just an entertaining series, but a platform that can inspire both the artists competing and the viewers who are watching and voting from home.
“The Gospel will serve as a platform for up-and-coming gospel artists while inspiring viewers through their faith-filled musical performances,” according to a statement given to Ambo TV. “Not only will artists discover stardom, but also experience the hustle and drive necessary to rise in the entertainment industry.”
