“Then he entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling things there; 46 and he said, “It is written, ‘My house shall be a house of prayer’; but you have made it a den of robbers.” Luke 19: 45-46

When Jesus made his triumphant entrance into Jerusalem during the beginning of what we now call Holy Week, we see Jesus weeping for the city (v 41) and then later driving out from the temple those who had perverted it from a house of prayer to a den of thieves. As we begin Holy Week, we too have cause to weep over what is happening in our cities and the world. Yet, like Jesus, we must also recommit ourselves to prayer and remove anything in our lives that would distract us from that mission.
