“On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed,“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke :22-40-42
Today is Maundy Thursday. It is the day Jesus was given over to Roman authorities to be tried, convicted and crucified. But before all these events Jesus went up to pray. In this moment, His humanity was on full display. We see a person struggling with accepting a difficult mission.
Perhaps you too are in anguish about accepting the mission God has given you because you know it is filled with pain. Know that you are not alone or wrong to want to avoid it. Like Jesus, you can express your feelings to God, while also concluding “not my will, but your will be done.”
